Film Review: The Fault In Our Stars

I have been waiting for this film to come out ever since I read the book, as the book was so amazing I was kind of apprehensive as to whether the film could meet the standards set, but I think they have. Like most film adapted books they missed out a few parts of the book, which I would have liked to have seen but I understand they can't fit everything in.

I loved the starting of the film as it had a voice over by Hazel which was something not many films do but it was really effective way to have the watcher captured from the start and I didn't expect them to do it. Instantly you meet Hazel and her parents and I think they are exactly how I imagined them to be from the book. I think the way they introduced each main character was really effective as they came in one at a time, giving the watcher a clearer view of who they are.

Even though it is probably the saddest film I've ever watched, had me crying from the end of Amsterdam, they also have some great humour in their through out the whole film even towards the very end when most people around you are crying! They also had some new modern 'film' features which I really liked, having text messages and e-mails come up on screen. A few reviews I had read before going to see it said the film was just trying to make people cry and I completely disagree with that!

Many people are confused about why this book was so hyped up but I don't think you can judge it before you've read it or watched the movie. I think it really capture cancer it a more positive light and also shows how its not just black and white, they have also managed to keep everything so accurate as to how cancer actually is.

One of my favourite parts of the film is the support group, mainly because they have real cancer patiences in it, which I think is an incredible idea and made it seem so much more realistic, than just a room full of actors. Another favourite scene of mine is in Amsterdam when they are having dinner in the restaurant I just think they filmed it really well and it show Gus and Hazel's relationship change. Over all my favourite scene has to be when they are on the plane on the way there!

Over all this film is amazing and I recommend this for teenage girls mostly but I think anyone could watch it and enjoy it, but make sure you do take tissues as you'll need them. Definatley is my favourite film I have watched so far this year, now I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. If you've been to see it let me know what you think? Thanks for reading.

Book Review: You're The One That I Want by Giovanna Fletcher

Giovanna Fletcher if you don't know is Tom Fletcher wife from McFly, who I love, and is an author, last year she wrote her debut novel Billy and Me which I loved and was the sort of girly romance book that I can't get enough of and both of her books are up there with my favourite books! You're The One That I Want is a story about  a girl Maddy and her two best friends Ben and Rob and the complications with their friendship.

The Blurb-

Maddy, dressed in white, stands at the back of the church. At the end of the aisle is Rob -  the man she's about to marry. Next to Rob is Ben - best man and the best friend any two people ever had

And that's the problem.

Because if it wasn't Rob waiting for her at the altar, there's a strong chance it would be Ben. Loyal and sensitive, Ben has always keep his feelings to himself, but if he turned around and told Maddy she was making a mistake, would she listen? And would he be right?

Best friends since childhood, Maddy,Ben and Rob thought their bond was unbreakable. But love changes everything. Maddy has a choice to make but will she choose wisely? Her heart, and the hearts of the two best men she knows, depend on it.

I think this story shows a very different side to a love story and how its not always black and white, I also think its really original as a lot of the romance books can often be very repetitive but this one I think is new and shows the side of friendship turning into love and the complications it bring. She has also slightly linked her two books together as she mentions Billy Busking and his movie in this book which I think is really clever and such a good idea!

Through out the book Rob's speech is inserted in little sections ending with Ben's best man speech and it begins one Rob and Maddy's wedding day and then goes back to when they're nine and have first met Maddy and shows the connection they all had right from the moment they met. Each chapter alternates between Ben and Maddy and what they are thinking and feeling, also giving different perspectives on what is happening in their lives and what they think of one another. You never know Ben's feelings but I like that as otherwise I think it would get way to confusing with 3 character views, even though he doesn't have his own chapters you get to know him just as well through Ben and Maddy's chapters.

Over all I think this book was amazing and I definitely recommend it's pretty close but I probably prefer this one to her last one, but know I'm going to have to re read Billy and Me. If you've read this let me know your opinion on it!

Real Techniques Brush Collection

This is pretty much my makeup brush collection as apart from a couple of random brushes I only use real techniques brushes, as I just find they have everything I need they're really reasonably priced and so much easier to get than any other brush brand I know of. They are synthetic which I don't mind and they are super easy to clean and and dry pretty quickly too. The way I am going to tell you about them all is I'm going to go through each one individually and tell you what I use it for and how much it is and if its from a set etc.

Powder Brush £10.99-
This is one of my more recent purchases but one of my favourites, for me I find this perfect to apply my powder with as it's so fluffy and big it just always the application to be a lot quicker and easier in the morning. It also applies the powder really lightly as it doesn't pick up too much product each time so therefore doesn't cake once its on your face. This one is a bit of a pain to wash as its so big, but you can't have everything.

Blush Brush £9.99-
This one was the first brush I think I bought from there and  used to use it for everything, even powder now it just seems tiny, but it has a slightly tapered tip so find this perfect to apply bronzer with as it can really get into your cheek bones. This also works really well to apply blusher with as it stops you from getting to much product on so super useful if you want to wear a darker blusher.

Expert Face Brush £9.99-
Again another more recent purchase and I use this one to apply my foundation and concealer with, I normally swap this one each day with the buffing brush as they are both pretty similar, except this one has  slightly shorter bristles so is a bit more denser. Which makes it really good to apple cream blushers or bronzers.

Buffing Brush (from Core Collection) £20.99 for 4-
I use this alternately with the expert face brush for my foundation, I find this one a bit easier to blend with as the bristles are slightly less dense giving you a bit more movement with the brush, so if I need to blend out my bronzer or I have a line around my face I'll use this as it works so well.

Pointed Foundation Brush (from Core Collection) £20.99 for 4-
I use this sometimes for my concealer, especially under my eyes as it kind of fits perfectly in the under eye area and with a kind of patting/blending motion it works really well with my under eye concealer to cover up any dark circles

Brow Brush (from Starter Kit) £20.99 for 5-
This one I use everyday with my eyebrow shadow just to fill in a bit and this works really well to get the natural effect I like for my eyebrows, it also has a really pointy tip allowing you to be more precise.

Deluxe Crease Brush (from Starter Kit) £20.99 for 5-
I find this way to chunky to use for eye shadow as I feel it can get really messy and you can't get the precision you may need, but this works really well for concealer especially with the collection lasting perfection concealer they cover any blemishes so well.

Contour Brush (from Core Collection) £20.99 for 4-
I don't use this as often only every if I am going out and what to really contour my face precisely, sometimes I'll use it to highlight or to add any extra powder under my eyes or on any where I have used concealer.

Base Shadow Brush (from Starter Kit) £20.99 for 5-
This one I absolutely love using for eyeshadow and could kind of do with another one as for my eyelids it just fits perfectly and gets the right amount of product on the brush it also is really good for blending or getting right into the crease.

Pixel Point Eyeliner Brush, Accent Brush and Detailer Brush(from Core Collection and Starter Kit) £20.99 in sets-
I put these three together as I didn't have much to say about them as I rarely use them, sometimes I may use them to get a more precise concealer or if I use an eyeshadow as an eyeliner, but apart from that they kind of just live with the others not doing much.

Hope liked this what's your favourite real techniques brush and what ones should I get next? Thanks for reading.

Film Review: Edge of Tomorrow

Last week me and my Dad went to the cinema and I had a choice of Mallificent or Edge of Tomorrow, so I watched the trailers and they both looked really good but I thought I'd pick the Edge of Tomorrow as it's a more sci-fi action film which is definitely not the normal film I'd go for, but I honestly really enjoyed it. One of the things that made me want to see it was that Tom Cruise was in it, I mean who doesn't like Tom Cruise?

The film is based in the near future and without giving the plot away Tom Cruise keeps relieving the same day every time he dies until he essentially saves the world. And that's a super brief description but if you want more detail I'd watch the trailer. In the film there is also a slight romance story going on which I really liked and it was kind of an extra story as a bit of a side line, showing the different relationships between the different characters. One thing I thought they did particularly well was keeping the watchers attention through out the two hour film and seen as he was replaying the same day over and over the producers managed to keep whoever was watching it completely hooked, as I quiet often get distracted through films and then get really confused after day dreaming for 5 minutes. The actors were all also incredible and even the characters with smaller parts were still really good, as I find sometimes in films they can focus so much on the main characters they forget about the actors with smaller parts.

I would definitely recommending anyone going to see it even if your like me and don't like sci-fi action films cause it really is great. Let me know what you think about me doing film reviews as I'm not really sure if this was okay or not I kind of just wrote what came to mind! I am also going to see The Fault In Our Stars next week which I will definitely review if you would like me to as I'm am so excited about it!

Raspberry Crumble Muffin Recipe

This recipe is one I got from a cupcake recipe book and have slightly changed it too what I prefer, but I love these muffins they're fairly sweet from the raspberry and I love the crumble crunch on top which just makes them a bit nicer. It makes 12 but they are pretty big muffins so you could probably make 20 cupcakes.

For the crumble topping-
50g Plain Flour
25g Butter
2 tbsp. Caster Sugar

280g Plain Flour
1 tbsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Bicarbonate of Soda
Pinch of Salt
115g Caster Sugar
6 tbsp. Sunflower Oil
2 Eggs
250ml Natural Yogurt
 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
 150g Raspberry's

12 Muffin Cases

1. Preheat the oven to 200oC/400oF/Gas Mark 6. Fill a 12 hole muffin tin with cases.

2. To make the crumble topping add the flour to a small bowl, then add the butter rubbing it in with your finger tips until the mixture becomes like fine bread crumbs. Stir in the sugar and set a side.

3.To make the muffin mix add the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, salt and sugar to a big bowl and stir.

4. In a large jug beat the eggs lightly then add the yogurt, oil and vanilla and beat it.

5. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and pour the beaten liquid in with the raspberries, mix together gently until just combined.

6. Spoon the mixture into the muffin cases and sprinkle the crumble mix over the top, gently patting it down. Then put in the oven for 20minutes or until golden brown.

7. Take out of the oven and leave to cool in the tin for 5 minutes then remove and either eat warm or leave to cool and store in an air tight container. You can also freeze them if you don't think you'll eat them all.

I hope you like this quick and easy recipe I haven't done one in a while so thought I would write this one as it's such a nice recipe, thanks for reading!

My Top 10 Drugstore Products

I have been thinking about doing this post for a while and wanted to wait until I really did have 10 products from the drugstore that were my absolute favourites. I've got a variety of different products but most are make up, I guess that's just because I have more make up products than like hair or skincare products. These are in no particular order as these are pretty much all equal!

1) Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer- (£4.19)
I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of this concealer and pretty much everyone loves it and I am definitely one of them! I love how it is such a thick consistency and has such a high coverage so is perfect for any blemishes. I don't tend to use this under my eyes unless I have very bad dark under eyes as I find its a bit too heavy for my eyes and prefer to use a lighter product as it can also go into any fine lines on your skin and sits in them.

2) Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser (£4.99)
I discovered this after MissBudgetBeauty spoke about it on her blog and youtube and as soon as I heard her talk about it I thought it sounded perfect for me to use in the evening to take my makeup of and cleanse and it is. It's super thick and leaves your face feeling squeaky clean after using it, after reading reviews people say it smells like suncream, but I don't really find that and it's a very mild scent anyway. I used to use it on a wet face but now I use it on dry skin and then take it off with a hot flannel, how your supposed to!

3)Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (£3.99)
This is definatley the best powder I have ever tried from the drugstore and as I have oily skin I have definitely tried a fair few and none of them ever compare to this, even the one's which a from the higher end of the drugstore which cost around £10. I think the price is also excellent and some people say the packaging is cheap but I think its fine and I'd prefer the price stayed down and kept the same packaging.

4)Real Techniques Makeup Brushes (£5.99-£21.99 for sets)
The only makeup brushes I use at the moment are from real techniques as I just find they have everything I need and are at such great prices, they are also really easy to get hold of unlike the higher end brushes. I normally get mine from amazon as they are at a bit of a reduced price, but you can get them from most superdrug and boots. I am thinking about writing a post on my real techniques brush collection and go into detail about each brush I own. Naming these would take a while so I thought I would save that for another post, but hopefully you can tell feel free to ask me about any of them.

5)Barry M Nail Polishes (£2.99-£3.99)
Barry M nail polishes definatley take up a large amount of my nail polish collection and they have been in it ever since I was about 10, they are such a lovely product that are really easy to apply and don't chip too quickly after 2 coats. They also come in such a wide variety of colours and have recently been coming out with several new ones, like the gelly high shine and the metallic ones which are all also great. I won't name them all as it would take a while, but I will be doing a barry m nail polish collection soon hopefully too.

6)Batiste Dry Shampoo (£2.99-£4.99)
This is again another product I have been using for as long as I can remember and is now a staple product for me and I have probably tried every scent and find they have all worked really well in my hair. They also have a range for coloured hair which means you don't get the white powder you have to rub in, which is okay for me as I have blonde hair but I can see how if you have darker hair it may be annoying.

7)Rimmel Colour Rush Balms (£5.99)
This is the most recent product which I have found out of all 10 and I have been obsessed with these balms and wearing them almost everyday, I have only tried a few other 'chubby stick' copies but these stand out the most as they are a lot glossier and I prefer the colour range they have. I currently have drive me nude, keep mauving, on fire and make me blush. I find these a lot more wearable for everyday use instead of a full on lipstick.

(L-R On Fire, Make Me Blush, Keep Mauving and Drive Me Nude)

8) Dove Gradual Tanner (£4.99)
This is a summer essential for me as its super easy to apply and gives your skin such as sun kissed look after just a couple of appliances, its also really easy to build up to the effect you want after just a couple of uses. It's also a lot more of a natural colour than other fake tans I have used as it doesn't streak and it fades a lot more naturally instead of just going patchy.

9) Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser (£3.59)
I used to use this as my everyday moisturiser, but recently over the past year I have got into skincare more and have purchased moisturiser's that are more suited for my skin. However, this is great to use on any breakouts or spots as it really helps to reduce redness and help it begin to disappear. It's also suer cheap and lasts me forever.

10) Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation (£6.99)
I was stuck between this and the wake me up foundation but I think this is more suited to my skin and is easier to wear everyday, where as, the wake me up for me I find is more of a summer foundation. I think this foundation is amazing as it has a medium coverage with a slightly dewy finish, it also smells really nice and is so easy to blend as its more fluid than the wake me up.

Thank you for reading this let me know what your favourite products from the drugstore are?

Random May Favourites

1) Coronation Street
I have been watching corrie for as long as I can remember and is one of Britains most popular soap and at the moment the story lines are really good and make me really desperate to watch the next episode. As I write this in advance its just before Tina's murder, in which they have filmed 4 scenes and I'm really intrigued to see how it will end.

2)The Vampire Diaries
It has recently ended and what an ending it was! If you watch it you'll know what I mean, I don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it yet, but I defiantly wasn't expecting the ending and I was left speechless literally I just couldn't believe it. I know really want to read the books has anyone read them if so are they any good?

3) Glee
I nearly forgot about this but Glee's most recent series has also come to an end and I have really enjoyed this series I do miss Mr Shu and the choir room but I think it was time they had a change and New York was the best place to go to. I miss a few of the old characters but the story lines are still great and I love how they've started doing more modern songs, still with a few oldies.

4)Fearne and McBusted
Yet another one I nearly forgot, but Fearne Cotton and McBusted have done documentary all about the boys in McBusted and you get to go into details about their lives and see most their houses, James Bourne even has a house in the part of Cornwall we go to! They also play tattoo roulette and get up to lots of different things across two shows an hour each on ITV2, Part 1 and Part 2

1)Woman in Black
This is actually the only film I watched this month and I know I'm a bit late on the band wagon with this as it was out a couple of years ago know, but I've never got round to watching it and my Dad recorded it so we all watched it on Saturday night. I really liked it actually I am becoming a bit of a fan of more horror/thriller films which is unlike me and they do make me jump but I thought it was a really good film and just the script and the sets were really good and if you haven't seen it I definatley recommend it.

Also, the fault in our stars film is out this month, the 20th of June in the UK, which I can't wait to go and see!

1) My Head Is An Animal- Of Monsters and Men
My sister bought this of itunes a while ago and I may have 'borrowed' it and I have been loving listening to it as it's really different to any other music I listen to and have been loving listening to it whilst getting ready at the moment.

2) Glee Sings the Beatles-Glee
I know this is a bit of an old-ish album for Glee but I really like the covers they did and think they have a really modern twist on them and I think their voices fit the songs so well, as I find sometimes when people do covers they don't really suit their voice.

1) Little Talks- Of Monsters and Men
My favourite song from the album has definatley been my most listened to ones and I think this was a number 1 like two years ago and I liked it then but at the moment every time I turn on my ipod it's what I listen to first.

2)Air Hostess- Busted
Since I saw McBusted in April I have been listening to all their songs again, but for some reason this has been my favourite and I just find it one of the most catchy songs Busted have written and definatley my favourite.

1) Belvita Breakast Bars
I used to hate these and thought they tasted like cardboard, but recently my Mum bought some so I thought I'd try them and I love them now especially the milk & cereal and the crunchy oat ones, they're a really filling snack and low in sugar which is unlikely to find in most cereal bars.

I have really been enjoying making smoothies for breakfast at the moment as I find them really filling and have lots of good things in, I've kind of made up my own recipe inspired from a few different ones I've read about, so let me know if you want me to write a post on how I make it.

Yankee Candle-

This month I haven't burnt as many due to me running out of tealights half way through the month and I'm stillusing up some which still have a scent in from last month, but this moth I've been loving Wild Passion Fruit, even my Dad said he likes this one which is very unlike him as he normally thinks mine are too sweet!

1) Fitness Blender
\At the end of this month I discovered the fitness blender videos, I can't even remember how but I'm pretty sure I've seen them before but never gotten into them. Recently I have been really enjoying doing their workouts they have such a variety of different work outs allowing you to work on all different parts of your body and different length work outs from 10 minutes to 90 minutes, there's something for everyone. So if you want to start working out I really recommend these videos.

2) Velvet Ghost
Gabby produces beauty videos and produces some really high quality videos she also does a variety of different videos, such as, tutorials, vlogs and hauls. She also has a really bubbley personality and always so happy which can really cheer you up!

Thanks for reading, let me know what your random favourites were of May and what your're looking forward to about June.
