Garnier Micellar Water Normal vs. Pure Active

A while age I was in superdrug and was looking to re purchase the Garnier Micellar Water and saw they had bought out a new Pure Active one aimed for people with combination to oily skin, which is me, so I was very excited to see this. I was then curious as to what was actually different about the two, so thought I would write a post all about it!

First of all the packaging has one clear difference the original has the Bioderma copy of a clear bottle with a pink lid, where as the Pure Active has a blue translucent bottle and a white lid, a general theme to their Pure Active range. They both claim to do similar things 'Removes Make-Up, Cleanses', the Pure Active also 'Purifies' where as the original 'Soothes', so for me that would suggest the original is more gentle, however whichever I use my skin feels the same cleaness after each.

There is only one ingredient difference, the Pure Active has Alcohol Denat, where as the original doesn't, if you want details on this ingredient you can read this article I found here. I am no skin expert but what I gathered from reading this is that its the product that reduces some of the oil on your skin by drying it out. However, I have had no problem at all with this product so it may only have a small concentration, although if you have dry skin this may be an issue.

The feel of the product is very similar on the skin and they both remove make up very well and to be honest I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference if they weren't in the bottles. Saying that I still do feel like the Pure Active range is definatley worth getting if you have oily to combination skin as it may just help reducing oil that extra bit. It is also still very gentle on the skin and I don't have particularly sensitive skin but can't see why it would irritate you skin.

Thanks for reading this I hope you enjoyed it, let me know which you prefer!

Revolution Sugar and Spice Blush Palette Review

I was so excited when I saw they had bought revolution make up to my local superdrug, I had seen the craze it had created online and was desperate to get my hands on some as I saw it was being compared to some high end brands. I probably spent a good 10 minutes deciding what palette to get there were too many nice eyeshadow and blush palettes, which I will defiantly be trying out soon! I got this for £6, which you get 6 blushers and 2 highlighters and a nice big mirror! For me it comes with a perfect range of colours and possibly all that I would ever need!

You get to neutral brown shades which I like using on a minimal make up day when I don't have any bronzer on, out of the two shades the one to the left is more orange where as the left one has more pink under tones. These two are definitely the more subtle two from the selection however I really like this about them, although if you have tan or darker skin tone I'm not sure whether they would show up very well. The main thing I like about these colours is I would never pick them if they were individual colours but as a result of getting these in this palette I have fallen in love with a new shade of blusher!

The main theme to this palette is more pinky tones, with 3 pink blushers and 1 coral, I love to wear pinky blushers especially when I am more pale as I think they really compliment my skin tone. I love how they have included 3 pinks all very different to one another one very dark, a medium and a slightly lighter one. The only problem with these pinks is specifically the darker two are incredibly pigmented, more like an eyeshadow so you have to be very light handed but I use all 3 of these  frequently. Possibly my favourite is the coral shade, I'm a bit of a sucker for coral shades and this one is just a perfect colour to wear everyday and think it will look gorgeous in the summer.

You then have the last two the 'highlighters' however the pink one is more of a blusher, I must admit these are the thing that let down the palette a bit, as you can tell from the pictures they look very glittery and they come across on the skin like this so I tend to stay away from them, however you can get away with it with a lot of blending and being light handed.

Over all though I love this palette I think its well worth the money for the quality of the blushers that last all day, all though the highlighters aren't the best you still have 6 high quality blushers so I am not to bothered about that!

Thanks for reading let me know whether you like the highlighters or use them as an eyeshadow?

Tanya Burr: Be Bright, Be Happy, Be You

I have decided that from now on I am going to try and post a nail polish post every Wednesday, as I am addicted to nail polish and now I've finished school I can wear it everyday! To kick it off I've got one from the Tanya Burr collection which RRP is £5.99, however you can get them for £1.50 from Fragrance Direct, a bargain! I definitely had room in my collection for this colour its just a basic bright pink which weirdly I didn't have one so bright before, which is very unlike me. I like the fact you could wear this nail polish all year round and can add a pop of colour to your look. The formula is very nice not to thick or thin with two coats it's opaque, you'd probably be able to get away with one if you're in a rush, it also lasts a few days as I expect for most nail polishes, after 3-4 day if begins to chip around the edge, however by this point I'm normally bored of the colour and wanting another anyway. It also comes in a big bottle of 12ml so good value and the packaging is very cute, the brush is also fairly wide making it easier to apply.

I had been desperate for a pair of TOMS for a while but as they were £35 I would always put them in my basket then change my mind at the last minute, but I finally bought a pair and I'm so happy I did. I thought they would be a great alternative to my converse as it was beginning to get warmer and needed more shoes for college in September.

A major reason why I bought them was due to the impact it is having on millions of lives you can read the full story here,
'OMS humble beginnings happened unintentionally. While traveling in Argentina in 2006, Blake witnessed the hardships faced by children growing up without shoes. His solution to the problem was simple, yet revolutionary: to create a for-profit business that was sustainable and not reliant on donations. Blake's vision soon turned into the simple business idea that provided the powerful foundation for TOMS.'
the best thing about this company was the fact for every pair of shoes bought they make a pair to give to people in developing countries who have no shoes, they also have began helping with health care and water which I find extraordinary how one small company can become so big and have such a massive impact.

The shoes I decided to buy were the Black Canvas Women's Classics, which are new to the range and just have a white sole and and the rest is black canvas, which a funky print inside which I love. The quality of them is amazing they have a very thick base, so you know they aren't going to wear down after a few days and the overall appearance looks as though it has been done to a very high standard. They are also super light so don't make your feet to hot so are perfect for summer or travelling if you are limited to weight restrictions. They also come in half sizes which is perfect for me as I am a 5.5 and they were true to size, at first they felt tight however after wearing them for about an hour they were feeling much more comfortable and I can wear these all day without them feeling uncomfortable.

I really reccomend these shoes or just taking a look around the website as they do a wide range of shoes now not just the classic ones, you can also get 5%  off with your first order!

Superdrug Haul

I always seem to run out of my basic skincare products all at once, so I made myself a list so I didn't go too crazy and managed to stick for it! I have also included a cheeky purchase of mine from feel unique at the end.

L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes in Extra Black (£10.99)
At the time this was on offer, but unfortunately isn't at the moment, I used to wear this mascara a lot last year but then I think I must have found a new one and forgot about it, so the other day when I saw it I was reminded how much I used to love it. I like the fact how it is very lengthening something I like most in a mascara and if you work with it you can also get a lot of volume.

L'Oreal Infallible 24H Matte Foundation in 11 Vanilla (£7.99)
I had seen this foundation on a few blogs and loved the way it looked on the skin the reviews were also all really good, its also only £7.99 what a bargain! I think this foundation is perfect for anyone with oily skin, like me, as it just mattifies the skin and also means I need less powder.

Superdrug Nail Polish Remover (£0.98)
A bit of a boring purchase but an essential for me, as I am constantly panting my nails then getting bored and wanting to change to another colour.

Dove Gradual Tan in Medium to Dark Skin (£2.59)
I picked this up as my current one is running out and as my prom is in a couple of weeks I want to have tanned arms which still look fairly natural, even though this is the darker shade I find it most effective on my fairly pale skin and has a nice colour, that's not orange, after a few days.

Clearasil Daily Gel Wash (£2.99)
I wanted a more gently wash to use in the morning and evening as I have been using a scrub recently, however I am going on holiday in a couple of weeks so I don't want something that will make my tan go patchy! This also aimed to prevent blocked pores which I struggle with.

Simple Oil Balancing Cleansing Wipes (£1.59)
I know face wipes aren't the best for your skin, but I just find them really handy to have in if I get in late on day or am just feeling lazy, as its better than not taking your make up off at all.

Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser (£2.09)
My current moisturiser is just about to run out and I always know with Simple that I will get a good product, so I thought I would try this out, it's also in a pretty big bottle so good value for money. I got the oil balancing one as my skin does get oily especially in the summer when its hot!

2True Wow Mascara (£2.99)
I picked this up as TalkBeckyTalk was saying on a recent video of hers how it was a dupe for Benefit They're Real, which I love and because it was so cheap I had to try it out. I've only used it once and I am already in love with it, its so lengthening and I love the brush for such a cheap product!

Superdrug Strawberry & Raspberry Antibacterial Hand Gel (£0.99)
My current hand sanitizer has just run out and I always like to have a bottle of this in my bag for when I'm using public transport or just feel like my hands need a wash.

Naked 3 Palette (£38)
My most exciting purchase I have been desperate for a naked palette for ages and I know I am very late on the band wagon, but I am still amazed at the quality and realise why they get so much hype. I went for the naked 3 as I love pinky toned eye shadows and for my prom I also need a more pink toned look! But I am just so excited to start using this regularly!

Thanks for reading if you want me to review any of these products let me know as I will be more than happy to!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer Review

I bought this concealer a few weeks ago when I went into my local superdrug hoping to re purchase my trusty collection lasting perfection concealer only to find it was out of stock, as it frequently is. I decided to pick up this concealer as at the time it was on offer and really love Rimmel as a brand so I thought it would be worth a try. The concealer's RRP is £5.49, so a fairly reasonable price but a bit more expensive than the collection concealer.

I would describe this concealer as full coverage, it comes in a pot and has an incredibly thick consistency as you would expect, however the only problem I find with this is that you have to be very quick when working with it as once its on the skin its very hard to move it, which in some ways works in your favour as it is very long lasting. On a typical day I will apply this under my eyes and wherever else necessary at about 9am and will take it of around 9pm by then there is still traces of the concealer it's not all there but I don't think any concealer would last 12 hours!

The best way I find to apply this concealer is with your hands, as the heat from your fingers makes it easier to blend the concealer giving you more time to apply it, where as using a brush makes it hard to blend and I often find trying to use a sponge doesn't move it very much at all.

One of my favourite things about this concealer as its says on the back you can use it on 'dark circles, imperfections and discolourations' and it is defiantly right about that its just like a concentrated foundation so even though it won't counteract redness or dark circles but it still manages to cover them well enough. I love the fact that I only need to buy one concealer, which makes it cheaper and also easier when you are travelling or throwing some basics into your bag.

Overall, I really like this concealer as an alternative to my collection, it is a really good all rounder product and gives amazing coverage. Although the packaging is only plastic which may seem cheap to some I don't mind it as it makes it lighter and means you don't have to be so careful with it, worrying it may break. I think this product is also really good value for the quality of the product and for such a high coverage concealer its a bargain. However, I think I will save this concealer for days when I really need it as it is very high coverage for day to day.

Thanks for reading, let me know if you have tried this concealer and what you think of it, I'd love to know!
